Kirkley People’s Forum Community Development Worker

  • Salary up to £22,500 pro rata

Kirkley People’s Forum is looking for a Community Development Worker to support the local community of Kirkley, Lowestoft. We are looking for someone to work alongside individuals or groups of local people to help them grow their ideas and make them a reality for the community to make Kirkley an even better place to live. We are looking for someone keen and motivated with great interpersonal skills who enjoys meeting people, preferably with experience of developing grass roots initiatives. The role will require a degree of flexibility and will involve evening and weekend work.

Kirkley People’s Forum is part of The Local Conversations Programme which is an innovative funding approach developed by People’s Health Trust who work to ensure that where people live does not unfairly reduce the length or quality of their life. The People’s Health Trust funds projects, using money raised by HealthIntend Society Lottery through The Health Lottery to address health inequalities in Suffolk.

Delivered in partnership with Community Action Suffolk, Kirkley People’s Forum is being supported to develop aspirations, priorities and identify projects for their community.

This role will be employed by Community Action Suffolk on behalf of Kirkley People’s Forum.

Young Leadership Development Officer

  • £23,298 pro rata based in Ipswich
  • 28hrs per week
  • 2yr fixed term contract

Community Action Suffolk, CAS, is the county’s infrastructure organisation for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise VCSE sector and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and confident individual to join our team.

The Young Leadership Development Officer will collate research, inform, and share learning with the VCSE sector and partners to harness and develop Young Leaders in Suffolk.  Young people will be empowered to inspire and mobilise themselves and others towards a common purpose, in response to personal and/or social issues and challenges in their community, to effect positive change (Social Action). The role will also champion young people into new and exciting leadership roles in their communities such as charity trustees.

The project will be initially funded for 2 years and we are looking for a motivated individual who has significant youth work experience and knowledge to initiate and deliver this exciting new area of work.
