Community Action Suffolk ran its first event since its creation at Wickhambrook Memorial Social Centre in West Suffolk offering enterprise and funding support to voluntary organisations and social enterprises.

The event took place on Wednesday 17th April and marked the beginning if Community Action Suffolk’s community support.

Cathy Manning, from St Edmundsbury Borough Council opened the event and was followed by a short programme of informative presentations and latest funding and support opportunities from The Big Lottery, The Suffolk Foundation and Suffolk Pro-Help.

It was also a chance to hear about the Suffolk Local Giving fundraising initiative, take advantage of free one – to –one discussions with expert advisors and visit a range of display stands in the Market Place and talk to professionals who were on hand to support and advise.

Dr Wil Gibson of Community Action Suffolk said ‘we are pleased with the outcome of the event and for the partnership approach taken. It was an excellent demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the Voluntary and Community Sector across Suffolk’.

The event was run in partnership with Suffolk County Council, St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Forest Heath District Council.  There were 46 delegates and 58 appointments with the various specialists.

Cathy Manning from St Edmundsbury Borough Council said ‘I was delighted to open this event, the first under the new Community Action Suffolk banner, and especially pleased that it took place in West Suffolk. The event was well attended and well organized and we look forward to working with Community Action Suffolk to deliver support to the Voluntary Sector in this area again in the near future’

Feedback received from delegates was very positive, saying the event was extremely useful, encouraging, well organised and informative. Community Action Suffolk hopes to put on other similar events in the future all around Suffolk in furthering its main objective to strengthen the voluntary and community sector in the County.
