cas-and-one-suffolkCommunity Action Suffolk (CAS) is excited to be continuing the onesuffolk website service from 1 November 2016, offering organisations in Suffolk’s voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector the opportunity to have their own, low-cost website.

CAS recognises the requirements and importance for Suffolk’s parish and town councils to share news and information, something which the onesuffolk service enables. CAS has been working with Suffolk County Council to secure the future of the onesuffolk website service, guaranteeing that Suffolk’s organisations continue to have access to a locally supported website provider.

To ensure the ongoing sustainability of the service, there will be a small annual cost for having a onesuffolk website. For Town and Parish Councils this will be £50 +VAT per annum.

CAS is delighted that so many existing users have already committed to continue using the onesuffolk service. If you are an existing onesuffolk customer and would like to keep your website, visit www.onesuffolk.net and follow the instructions to continue your registration. Choosing the onesuffolk service is the only way to keep your “onesuffolk domain name” (e.g. village.onesuffolk.net), ensuring a hassle free transition.

Most importantly, CAS would like to reassure all existing onesuffolk customers that if you decide to continue using the service, your website will not experience any downtime during the transition.

CAS will continue to provide a dedicated onesuffolk helpdesk with three experienced professionals (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday) and a range of training and support materials will be available to you. CAS’s  IT helpdesk has been supporting local communities and charities for over 12 years, and as the leading VCSE sector infrastructure organisation in Suffolk, CAS will continue to look after onesuffolk users. The long term business model for onesuffolk, includes an upgrade of the existing Silverstripe system within the first year.

CAS understands that your council may not meet and make a decision until after the 1 November 2016 transition. However DO NOT WORRY! As long as you let CAS know that this is the case, your website will not be taken offline. They are more than happy to work with you to ensure your website does not encounter any downtime.

Further questions and reassurance about the transition of onesuffolk from Suffolk County Council are answered on the onesuffolk.net website.
