Suffolk Coastal: Parish Profiles now available

October 31, 2016

Categories: Rural issues | Your area: East Suffolk

Throughout 2016-17 we are looking at how to map community assets at a parish level. Work with Health and Wellbeing Suffolk has enabled us to look at community assets by parishes where the population is less than 1,000 individuals.

Community assets can mean many things from buildings to people and spaces.  For the purpose of our work we have looked mainly at physical assets – as these tend to be the most enduring assets within a community.  They can also act as ‘hubs’ for hosting a variety of community events.

The profiles for Suffolk Coastal are complete and available online. This follows the completion of profiles for parishes in Waveney. Click here for the parish profiles.

Each profile is around 3 to 4 pages long and contain the following information:

  • Name of the parish(s)
  • A brief summary of the area
  • Total population
  • 2 images of local landmarks
  • Local geography (nearest major road and town)
  • 2-3 featured ‘key’ assets
  • A map of the parish(s)
  • A list of the community assets in the parish(s)

Profiles for the parishes in other districts will be made available throughout the year, with Mid Suffolk coming next.
