CAS makes pledge and supports the Stop, Look and Listen campaign

Community Action Suffolk is delighted to have made a pledge to the Stop, Look and Listen campaign, to raise awareness of safeguarding children and young people.

The National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) is calling on all children and youth organisations to make 28th February the one day every year where organisations Stop what they are doing, Look at their safeguarding practices and Listen to young people, empowering them to take an active role in managing their own safety.  NCVYS’s new national safeguarding campaign aims to inspire and encourage children and youth organisations to show commitment to improving their safeguarding policies and standards.

CAS will be publishing some safeguarding articles on its website and Facebook page on 28th February 2014, as well as supporting the campaign and other Suffolk groups, on Twitter.

NCVYS is also encouraging organisations to pledge their commitment to be part of a safer sector. CAS has made its pledge:

“We pledge to support Suffolk’s Voluntary and Community Sector groups working with children and young people to make every day a safeguarding day.

We will promote Safeguarding practice and the services we offer to enhance safeguarding in Suffolk. This will include information on safeguarding children training and Safeguarding Quality Standards we offer. Using our website we will include quick guides to safeguarding, Suffolk contact details and quotes from Suffolk groups about how they Stop, Look and Listen to ensure children and young people are safe.”

You can make your pledge here, or support the Stop, Look and Listen campaign on Friday 28th February 2014 – on Twitter, use the hashtag #StopLookListen and follow @NCVYS.
