Managing Challenging Volunteer Situations (151024)

Please note that this course will be delivered online via Zoom.

All who involve volunteers may face situations that can be difficult. Preventing this happening, but dealing well with it, when it does, can help in retaining a happy team of volunteers.

Attend this online event and explore the types of challenging situations that may arise when involving volunteers and ways to positively manage these. The session will cover:

– How to mitigate the likelihood of issues occurring in the first place
– The role of the volunteer agreement
– Self-reflection on own communication style, listening skills, how to deliver difficult messages
– How to deal with volunteer conduct or performance issues
– How to say goodbye well, the importance of reflection and learning

Some role play can be involved at this session, but no one is forced to take part in this aspect. If you prefer not to do this please let us know in advance by email on [email protected] (please be assured of our discretion in this).

Kerry from our volunteering team has a background in recruiting, inducting and retaining volunteers. As a serial volunteer herself, she also understands both perspectives. As a trained trainer, she looks forward to your valuable diverse experience and input at this interactive session.
