Buddy up Training for Volunteers
11th August 2021 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Please note that this session will take place online via Zoom.
Booking for this course will close on Monday 9th August at 9am.
This course helps to equip volunteer buddys and befrienders to get the most form the buddy relationship and take things a bit further than a phone call and welfare check. It looks at community assests and personality mapping to help connect isolated and lonely people back into their community.
This course was developed in conjunction with Community Circles to lift a befriending volunteer or buddy to the next level, beyond a simple phone call.
It is suitable for both experienced buddies and people new to the subject. We will look at personality mapping and one page profiles to help extract what the isolated person really needs and wants and also touch on asset mapping so as to connect people to assets and activities in their community.
A combination of presentation, small work groups and role play are used to deliver this course.
By the end of this session you will:
Feel equipped to make first contact with an isolated person and also take an existing relationship to the next level by connecting them to other resources and people.
