Course Content A Trustee is responsible for ensuring that a charity is carrying out its aims and objectives as depicted in the governing document. Trustees have to act in the charity’s best interest; manage the charity’s resources responsibly; ensure the charity is accountable; as well as acting with reasonable care and skill.  Subjects covered include: Understanding what a Trustee is and what this role entails; who can be a trustee; recruitment of trustees; Trustee roles on the board; Trustee liabilities; reporting requirements; relationships with other staff members and governance requirements. This course is for anyone that is a trustee/ committee member; anyone who is considering taking up the role of trustee; or if you are interested in gaining more knowledge in this area. It will equip you with knowledge and skills, which will give you more confidence in carrying out your role.   Questions you will be able to answer What are my roles and responsibilities as a trustee? How to attract, recruit, retain and replace trustees? What policies and procedures do I need in place for effective governance?   Meet the trainer I am Community Action Suffolk’s ‘Development Officer- Governance and Community Buildings’. I have many years’ experience of working with the VCSE sector in a variety of settings and areas of expertise. My current role is focused on governance within charitable organisations as well as being the Suffolk Village Hall and Community Buildings Advisor.
