NOCN Level 2 Theory of Youth Work (011121)

Please note that this course will take place via Zoom This is a six session course. Sessions: Monday 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th November, 6th December   Entry Requirements Participants must: be aged over 16 attend 90% of the course in order to pass. be willing to under take pre and post course tasks and reading (approx 2hrs per week) Course Details This course is nationally accredited by the National Open College Network (NOCN) and gives participants the practical youth work skills and knowledge to build their confidence and practice. The course draws on real life scenarios and includes the very popular peer groups tutorial and tasks are based in the participants own setting for extra relevance. Ideal preparation for participants to begin, or expand their knowledge, working with young people in a range of youth work settings. The course contributes to the NOCN Level 2 Award in Youth Work practice. Youth work helps young people learn about themselves, others and society, through informal educational activities which combine enjoyment, challenge and learning. Youth workers typically work with young people aged between 11 and 25. This course will help participants to learn and practice the skills to equip them for their role. This course gives participants the time in their youth work setting to put into practice their learning from the sessions and complete written assignments. Participants are assessed throughout and complete a portfolio of written assignments.  We have included a sixth session:  ‘Introduction to Safeguarding’ funded by Suffolk County Council for all participants to add safeguarding to their youth work knowledge and skills. What is the role of youth work in the young person’s local community and how does a community affect young people? What are the skills, knowledge, qualities and values required to practice and how do mine compare? What is safeguarding, what are my respnsibilities, how to recognise and report safeguarding issues.   Please note The closing date for applications is Monday 18th October at 9am.  Places on the course will be allocated after this date. Organisations may apply for more than 1 place.  In  the first instance we will allocate 1 place per organisation.  If space allows we will then allocate further places to organisations.  Community Action Suffolk has secured funding to be able to subsidise this course.  Therefore we are currently able to offer this course free of charge.     Bespoke course offer This course can also be delivered exclusively for your organisation*.
