Book this event

August 16 @ 1:30 pm 4:30 pm

This course will take place online via Zoom.

Mental health affects us all and anyone can be on the scale from good to poor wellbeing at any time of our lives. But how do we talk about it more openly? What do we know about particular conditions? And crucially, how we can we better support people who have mental health needs.

Course Aims

The course aims to give those working with young people an introduction to common types of mental health issues and the tools to guide young people to the right support for their mental health needs.

This course will cover:

  • What is mental health?
  • Language of mental health – what should we say?
  • Common types of mental health issues including anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks, depression, phobias, OCD, eating disorders and stress
  • Supporting young people with their mental health needs

Meet the trainer

This course will be delivered by Esther Bromley of Support Staffordshire.

Esther Bromley has been training the voluntary sector for well over a decade.  From humble beginnings delivering a couple of training sessions in a small locality, she now delivers nationwide on most topics that are relevant to any group, organisation, or charity.

As a consultant she works on a bespoke basis with organisations, supporting the development of strategy, trusteeship, governance, income generation and due diligence frameworks. She has been an Investing in Volunteers quality standards advisor for 8 years.  Particular passions include mental health, volunteering, safeguarding, governance and the law as it applies to the charitable world.

In her spare time, she is scout leader and trustee, championing young people and their development and growth.
