This course will take place online via Zoom.
This online ‘MHFA England’ course offers an in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing of children and young people. There will be a mix of discussion and presentations covering: What mental health is, Suicide and depression, Anxiety and eating disorders and Psychosis.
‘’Our Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses are for anyone who works with or supports young people aged 8-18. We train the adults in a young person’s life to have the skills and confidence to step in, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need. In doing so, they can speed up a young person’s recovery, stop issues from developing into a crisis, and ultimately save lives.’’ MHFA England.
It won’t teach you to be a therapist but just like physical first aid it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis. Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.
By the end of the course
You will learn how to spot the early signs of a mental health issue and be able to guide someone to the right support.
