Health and wellbeing: a talking point for the Ipswich VCS

Friday 29th August saw the coming together of Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) groups in Ipswich to talk about something that affects us all: health and wellbeing.

Many organisations are already delivering vital services to the public to prevent acute care incidents, so there were lots ideas and best practice to share. Evaluations of the event once again showed the VCS needs and values these networking opportunities to learn about each others’ work and forge beneficial new partnerships.

The event also provided a chance for groups to hear the latest policy updates on health provision from CAS Senior Development Officer for Health, Geraldine Dougall, who highlighted the increased role for the VCS in delivering preventative health outcomes within a neighbourhood network model. This was complemented by Chris Pyburn from Suffolk County Council’s Public Health team, who brought welcome news on an upcoming grant to help the VCS deliver work in this area.

Our next VCS Locality Networking event for Ipswich will be held on 21st October 2014, which we are now developing. If you’re a VCS group in Ipswich and have ideas for what you’d like to hear about, do get in touch – more details about the event will be on the website soon!
