About The Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board

The Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) has been established as required by legislation and statutory guidance and is required to act with independence and authority in respect of the work of all organisations whose staff come into contact with children and young people, their parents and carers.

The SSCB is made up of partners and stakeholders from a range of agencies that commit to its work and bring a range of knowledge, experience and expertise under the leadership of an Independent Chair Person.

The Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board strategic priorities

The aim of the Board is to ensure that partner organisations are aware of safeguarding arrangements. It is important that members of local communities have increased understanding of the work that is being carried out to help keep children safe in Suffolk.

Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board recognises that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of  children and young people involves:

  • Protecting from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of health and development
  • Ensuring children grow up with safe and effective care
  • Enabling children to have the best life chances and enter adulthood successfully.
