The Princes Trust

The Prince’s Trust supports 13 to 30 year olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion.

Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year. Many of the young people are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law.

The Prince’s Trust programmes give young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. They develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling them to move into work, education or training.

National Citizenship Service

National Citizen Service (NCS) is open to all 16 and 17 year olds in England. It helps build your skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.

It runs in the spring, summer and autumn. You’ll have a short time away from home and take part in a team project that will help your community.

NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.

Participants develop a social action project to deal with a local issue they’re passionate about, and spend 30 hours putting the project into action in their community.
