Are you brave enough to volunteer?!

Community Action Suffolk’s volunteering team has been busy finding local events at which Suffolk’s army of volunteers can help out.

The Great East Swim (23 June), Midnight Walk (12 May) and Only the Brave (25 March) are already looking for volunteers, with many more local events in the pipeline.

Supporting a local event is a great way to experience volunteering for the first time. Volunteers only need to make a commitment for a single day to see if it’s something you’ll enjoy, without making any long-term commitment.

Featured event: Only the Brave (25 March)

March’s flagship event is Only the Brave, an action-packed 6 or 10 mile obstacle mud run, organised by the East Anglian Air Ambulance. After last year’s success, the organisers need your help to make it happen all over again, but even bigger and better. Hearty shouts of encouragement, support and a big smile from volunteers will turn this event from being aspirational to inspirational!

What will volunteers be doing?

  • Marshalling at the obstacles
  • Helping with car parking
  • Giving out ‘goody bags’

What skills do volunteers need?

  • A friendly and approachable manner
  • Willingness to join our friendly team
  • Physically fit enough to walk around the course and to be on your feet for a while

Lunch will be provided and travelling expenses are reimbursed.

Register your interest on the Volunteer Suffolk website.

The Volunteer Suffolk website has been created as a one-stop shop for people to discover how they can gift their time, and for local organisations to advertise their volunteering opportunities.

Event organisers can also register and share volunteering opportunities.
