Develop the confidence and tools to prevent, manage, and resolve difficult situations with volunteers — early, safely, and constructively.

Volunteer difficulties (behaviour, boundaries, performance, communication breakdowns) often escalate because managers don’t feel confident, trained, or supported to deal with them.

Kerry from the Volunteering team will be taking you through this training session. Kerry has a background in Community development, volunteer coordination and is herself a volunteer. This experience helps Kerry to understand the challenges faced by those who manage volunteers and what it is like to be a volunteer.

Venue and parking information:
This session is being held at Brightspace, Hadleigh Road, Ipswich, IP2 0HH.
The venue is fully accessible, and has step free access throughout the area.
There are disabled spaces at the front of building as you drive in on the right.
There is parking available on site and the overflow carpark is situated to the left as you drive onto the driveway.

By Train: Ipswich has a train station situated 1.5 miles from the venue. Please check for times.

TRAINING FORMAT:
There will be a maximum of 16 candidates plus up to two staff from Community Action Suffolk.
Participants will be seated at tables in small groups. The whole session is delivered in one room.
A PowerPoint presentation is used for the training, but this is purely a guide for the trainer and not something candidates will need to read themselves.
Please bring your own notepad and pen for any personal notes you may wish to take.

All resources needed for the session will be sent digitally prior to each session. Where appropriate, printed copies will be made available.
Some additional resources for candidates are sent once candidates have completed the course and these are sent digitally to each person.

Basic refreshments will be available on the day within the room, but if you have any specific preferences E.G. type of milk, please bring it with you.

Participants are required to attend both days to gain the resources included in this training.
Please note that only staff can access the kitchen. If you require the use of the fridge please ask the trainer for assistance.
