Become a confident, competent volunteer leader with a full toolkit for safe, legal, inclusive and effective volunteer management.
This course is aimed to help:
• New volunteer managers
• Those who, as part of their role, look after volunteers
• Organisations wanting internal consistency (we can also offer this in-house) if more appropriate to your team
• People looking for personal development
• People who don’t recognise themselves as volunteer leaders, but support volunteers regularly
Session one – The Volunteer Journey
Create a volunteer experience that attracts, supports and retains volunteers.
Set up your core plan in this session, giving you short, mid and long-term actions to help your organisation operate consistently.
You will go away with clear ideas of what you are doing well, need to review and any gaps you need to address.
Attendees say this session helps them ‘improve induction, communication, and volunteer systems, increasing confidence and competence.’
Session two- Volunteers and the Law
Understand the legal boundaries and compliance requirements for involving volunteers — without jargon, confusion, or guesswork.
Attendees report how they have benefitted:
• Rewriting policies, role descriptions and agreements
• Greater confidence managing risk
• Correctly applying DBS rules
• Clearer organisational procedures
Session three – Handling Difficult Situations Involving Volunteers
Develop the confidence and tools to prevent, manage, and resolve difficult situations with volunteers — early, safely, and constructively.
The sector faces more complex volunteer facing roles as demand grows
Feedback repeatedly highlights this course giving people the confidence to have difficult conversations
Attendees report:
• Increased confidence
• Better communication strategies
• Faster, earlier intervention
• Clearer boundaries
• Reduced volunteer burnout
