Practical, focused support for groups making a difference.

Running a community food project, whether a pantry, food bank, community kitchen, or shared meal, means supporting people who may be facing vulnerability. This short, practical session is designed to help you feel more confident and prepared.

This is not safeguarding training. Instead, it’s a supportive workshop covering the essentials you need in place.

The workshop includes:
1. A simple safeguarding health check for your project
2. Guidance on what a basic safeguarding policy should include
3. Understanding your responsibilities and boundaries
4. Spotting and responding to low-level concerns
5. Creating a safer environment for volunteers and beneficiaries
6. Space to ask questions and think through scenarios

Are you safeguarding ready? This practical workshop covers the core safeguarding policies and procedures your organisation needs to protect service users, staff, volunteers, and yourself.

Why it matters:
Food projects are often a lifeline, and having the right basics in place helps you protect both the people you support and your volunteers.

Delivered by Jacqui Wilkinson, Organisation Development Officer: Safeguarding and Quality Assurance at Community Action Suffolk.
