A new workshop to help people learn more about getting into volunteering will start in Felixstowe in April.

The “Introduction to Volunteering” workshops are free and will take place over 3 weeks, lasting for 2 hours each. They will focus on anyone aged 25 and over who is interested to learn more about what volunteering is, how they can use the skills they have or learn new skills and how to find a volunteering role which suits them.

The workshops will take place at Felixstowe Job Centre starting on 21st April from 1-3pm, and are open to anyone from the local community who has an interest in volunteering.

Community Action Suffolk Volunteering Field Officer for Suffolk Coastal & Waveney, Carolyn Shaw, commented, “this is a really exciting new project that we have linked with Felixstowe Job Centre and Suffolk Coastal District Council.”

“Volunteering is a really fun and fulfilling thing to do and can really build on skills people have, or give the opportunity for people to go in a direction they might not have ever thought of before. This new workshop is going to be fun and aims to inspire people to take action in their local community.”

Cllr TJ Haworth-Culf, Suffolk Coastal’s cabinet member with responsibility for Customers, Communities and Leisure, said, “Suffolk Coastal District Council fully supports the development of this programme, which encourages people to build their confidence and take on new roles and challenges within their community.”
