15 organisations were represented at the latest Community Action Suffolk locality networking event in Ipswich (Thursday 22 September 2016), where local groups came together to network and share ideas. Majoring on funding, groups heard from Ipswich Borough Council’s communities team, who encouraged applications to their cash grant scheme, and other ongoing funding pots.

VCSE Locality Officer Kirsty Wilmot gave the group an overview of local VCS news and intelligence, as well as an introduction to the new online grant search portal, Funding 4 Suffolk.

The group also heard an inspiring talk from Liz Marley of Poppies Care Farm, who shared her successes from the past year. This included a diverse array of grants, support from local businesses, and some fantastic progress developing the farm’s market garden and care farm facilities.

The message of the morning was clear – if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! Funding never come easy the first time, but as Liz’s experience showed, perseverance really does pay off.
