Nominations welcomed for Suffolk Adult Learners’ Awards 2015

Community Action Suffolk is once again proud to be sponsoring the Inspirational Learner Award at the LEAP Suffolk Adult Learner Awards for 2015.

Julia Miller, Senior Development Officer for VCSE Learning and Skills at CAS, says, “Last year’s winner, Mark, was a real inspiration and we look forward to presenting the award to another exceptional candidate this year.”

Suffolk groups and individuals are being urged to nominate candidates for all the Suffolk Adult Learners’ Awards. The Awards, now in their 5th year, celebrate the hard work and outstanding achievements of adult learners’ over the past year.

There are a total of 10 awards for which people can be nominated:

  • leap award winners 2014
    65+ Learner of the Year
  • Digital/Technology Learner of the Year
  • Inspirational Learner of the Year
  • Tutor of the Year
  • Apprentice/Learner at Work
  • Learning Project of the Year
  • Outstanding Family Learners of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • SME Learning Employer of the Year
  • Health and Wellbeing

In addition there are two further awards:

  • Outstanding Services to Adult Education and Training in Suffolk (selected by the judging panel)
  • Outstanding Learner of the Year (overall winner from those awarded on the evening)

The Awards are organised by Leap with the support of University Campus Suffolk (UCS), the Suffolk Partnership for Informal Leaning (SPIAL) and Suffolk County Council. Adnams are the award ceremony drink sponsor.

Miles Cole, Leap Project Manager, said “These Awards celebrate the commitment shown by tutors, volunteers, providers and learners’ while demonstrating the impact adult learning has on the lives of individuals. Every year it gets more and more difficult to choose between those nominated, everyone is doing such fantastic work and these awards, now in the 5th year, is just one way this can be recognised.”

The ceremony will be held at the UCS Waterfront Building, Ipswich, on Thursday 18 June and will be hosted by BBC Radio Suffolk presenter and UCS Honorary Graduate, Mark Murphy.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.leap.ac.uk and must be received by 5pm on Thursday 16 April 2015.
