Community Action Suffolk teams up with the East of England Co-op to encourage volunteering during their annual Suffolk Action Week Campaign

Community Action Suffolk are teaming up with the East of England Co-op to encourage shoppers to consider volunteering during their fourth Suffolk Action Week. The campaign, which runs between 3rd and 7th October, will see seven East of England Co-op supermarkets across the county hosting an event.

The seven supermarkets hosting events on Friday 7 October between 12pm and 2pm are :-

  • Leiston
  • Framlingham
  • Wickham Market
  • Cauldwell Road Hall, Ipswich
  • Combs Ford, Stowmarket
  • Hadleigh
  • Saxmundham Road, Aldeburgh

The week will also see Community Action Suffolk’s Volunteering Team hosting a series of online and face-to-face events in community spaces across the county including Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Bury St Edmunds Libraries, Sudbury Market, The Hive and The Hold in Ipswich, John Peel Centre in Stowmarket, Fisher Theatre in Bungay and Community Action Suffolk’s Kirkley Centre near Lowestoft. An online event is also taking place for the locations of Brandon, Mildenhall and Lakenheath.

Information will be on hand for those interested in getting involved in volunteering, including details of the Volunteer Suffolk website which is run by Community Action Suffolk and hosts a huge range of volunteering opportunities. There will also be a presence at the events by the Suffolk Good Neighbour Network. This is a voluntary initiative run by groups of local residents in each area to build stronger and more resilient communities by helping people with everyday tasks.

Joint Chief Executive, Niall O’Keefe said, “We’re incredibly proud to be playing our part in Suffolk Action Week by connecting our customers with volunteering opportunities in their area. Our local charities are working harder than ever to help people in need, and, as we head into the more difficult winter months, even more people may become reliant on their support. Many of us feel motivated to help, and volunteering is a practical way to make a positive difference in our communities.”

Janet Perry, Community Action Suffolk’s, Senior Manager Volunteering Development encourages the public to get involved: “If you are considering volunteering but not been sure how to go about it, these events around the county are a brilliant opportunity to meet charities face-to-face to find out about the many varied ways you can help. There’s a volunteer role for everyone, whatever your availability, skills or experiences.”
