Volunteers Week 2015: Meet Sheila, our latest volunteer driver, who loves to make a difference!

Sheila behind the wheel!

Community Action Suffolk is pleased to welcome Sheila on board as a volunteer driver on Ipswich Dial a Ride.

Sheila used to drive Transit vans and on renewing her licence did not have the D1 entitlement. But two years later and she passed a full PCV medical and Mini Bus Awareness Driving course! Sheila is now delighted to be helping out in the local community.

“I love driving and thought that the opportunity had passed me by, but with Community Action Suffolk’s help, my licence now allows me to drive minibuses and I love meeting all the passengers and helping them get out and about.”

Billy Morton, Community Transport manager at Community Action Suffolk is delighted to have welcomed Sheila onboard,

“I’m really pleased to have helped Sheila get her licence and provide the Mini Bus Awareness training. By driving the Dial A Ride minibus, Sheila has helped many people in and around Ipswich who cannot access public transport, go to the doctors, attend hospital appointments, go shopping or simply visit friends. It is great to have Sheila on board with us and we would love to get a few more drivers like her!”
