Community Action Suffolk (CAS) is delighted to announce the appointment of four new trustees to its Board.
The addition of Chris Betson, Ben Matthews, Brian Parrott and The Baroness Scott of Needham Market brings new skills and experience, making CAS and the voluntary sector in Suffolk even stronger.
CAS’s Board now totals ten trustees, the largest number it has had. Pete Richardson, Chief Executive, is excited to welcome the new members to the team:
“I’m proud of how CAS staff and trustees have worked hard to establish CAS as a leading voluntary sector organisation over the last five years.
“With our new trustees, we will be able to develop CAS even further, making new contacts and growing the good reputation of CAS regionally and nationally.
“CAS is keen to make Suffolk’s charities and voluntary organisations stronger, making for a stronger Suffolk. We can do this by making sure funding and skills stay within the county. With the national contacts and influence of our Trustee Board, I’m positive for the future of both CAS and our county.”
No time was wasted bringing CAS and Suffolk’s voluntary sector to the attention of The House of Lords. On 16 January 2018, Baroness Scott highlighted the importance of smaller, local charities and infrastructure organisations, such as CAS. The speech displayed her commitment to the voluntary sector in Suffolk:
“The whole sector is about service – people spot a need and they try to fill it, often showing immense passion, commitment and dedication to do so. That is what makes the charity sector so wonderful, so vibrant and so inspiring.”
The appointments of the new trustees bring new experience to the CAS Board. Chris Betson has lived in Suffolk for over 30 years and is passionate about small business and local communities. Ben Matthews is a finance professional with a wealth of experience gained in the commercial insurance sector. Brian Parrott is an experienced, former local authority director with a keen interest in health and social care.
