Introduction to Youth Work (NOCN level 2) course now booking for March

(Understanding Youth Work Principles and Practice level 2 (QCF))

This interactive, practical course draws on real life scenarios to build confidence and youth work practice skills.

The course is run over 4 evening sessions and includes a peer group tutorial and tasks based in the learners youth work setting. Learners will complete a workbook including written assignments as evidence for assessment.  This course will give learners time in their youth work setting to put into practice learning from the sessions and complete the written assignments.

100% attendance is required.

This course contributes to the NOCN Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice (QCF) and is the mandatory module. It also counts towards the Certificate and Diploma.

Who is it for?

  • Learners must be aged 18+, working with young people aged 13 and over
  • Learners must be working (paid or unpaid) in a youth work setting (av. 3 hrs pwk)
  • Learners must have been in their youth work setting for at least 6 months
    (proof of identity, address, CRB check and eligibility will be required)

Course content

  • 2nd March 2015
    Session 1: Understand the purpose and role of youth work intervention
  • 9th March 2015
    Session 2: Understand the principles and practice of equal opportunities
  • 16th March 2015
    Session 3: Peer group tutorial
  • 23 March 2015
    Session 4: Understand the skills, knowledge, qualities and values required to practice within youth work

All sessions: 6.45 pm – 9.30pm at Castle Hill Community Centre, Highfield Road, Ipswich, Ip1 6DG

Cost

£90 for Community Action Suffolk members and £160 for other groups.
