Organisations invited to bid to deliver universal service groups to children and their parents in Waveney

(Message from Jenny Carter, Centre Manager, Kirkley Children’s Centre)

I am contacting you on behalf of North Lowestoft, South Lowestoft & Waveney Children Centres who would like to invite applications from organisations to bid to deliver universal service groups to children and their parents from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017.

We are inviting bids to deliver outdoor play, messy play and music based play as detailed below:

You are invited to bid for any element in any locality. Please clearly outline which service/services you are bidding for, which locality/localities and how many sessions per week in your proposal.

Music & Movement

  • Provide timely access to music and movement services for children and their parents identified as likely to benefit from such activities
  • Improve the emotional well-being of parents and empower them to provide creative opportunities for their children
  • Provide opportunities for parents to get involved in classes
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Healthy Child Programme.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative data to inform the evaluation of the effectiveness of the service.
  • Partake in regular service review meetings with Children’s Centre Manager and meet the requirements of the Centre’s Quality Assurance policy.
  • To make recommendations for future service development.
  • Support the (2012 revised) EYFS framework with particular acknowledgement of the following outcomes;
    a) Child Development
    b) Inclusive Practice
    c) Keeping Safe
    d) Health and Well Being
    e) Partnership with Parents

Outdoor/Sensory Play

  • Help to develop parent and child understanding of the outside learning environment by offering a range of interactive exploratory activities for children, parents based on the outdoor environment.
  • Promote and support parent/child interaction through play.
  • Support parents understanding and awareness of the benefits of using natural resources and of engaging with the outdoor environment
  • Improved communication between parent and child
  • Provide a safe environment which enables parallel play
  • Improve the emotional wellbeing of parents and empower them to provide creative opportunities for their children.
  • Support Children to develop skills in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage profile and help their parents to understand what these skills are and how they have been nurtured by the activities undertaken.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Healthy Child Programme.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative data to inform the evaluation of the effectiveness of the service.

Messy/Sensory Play

To offer a range of interactive craft activities for children and parents, and working in an empowering way with families.

  • Enhance school readiness
  • Support the development of writing skills with early mark making skills
  • Promote positive attachment between parent/ carer and child.
  • Raise parent’s awareness of the positive impact of parental engagement in children’s play, early education and the home learning environment.
  • Provide children must be provided with experiences and support which will help them to develop a positive sense of themselves and of others
  • Improve children’s learning and competence in communication, speaking, listening, being read to and beginning to read and write must be supported and extended.
  • Extend children’s creativity by the provision of support of their curiosity, exploration and play.
  • Improve parent/child interaction through messy play activities.
  • Increase confidence in child and parent and group co-operation.

Any organisation or individual wishing to submit a quote must also evidence that they have:

  • CYP and adult Safeguarding Policy
  • Public Liability Insurance Certificate
