What can communities do to support local people facing specific health and wellbeing challenges?

NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Waveney District Council, in conjunction with Public Health (Suffolk County Council), are jointly hosting a programme of workshops to explore what communities could do to support local individuals and families facing specific health and wellbeing challenges, including dementia, loneliness and staying active.

Five workshops have been arranged, at different locations across Waveney District, between 20 January and 27 April 2016.

Each workshop is aimed at community groups, Town and Parish Councils, Councillors and voluntary organisations – and anyone else who wants to find out more about how to stimulate action in their community!

The themes, dates, times and venues of the five workshops are as follows:

Each workshop will include facts and figures to help participants to understand the local context, information about what local voluntary organisations are already doing, inspirational case studies exploring what other Suffolk communities are doing to support individuals and families in their community and, last but not least, some ‘possibility thinking’ to generate ideas for action in your community.

The workshops will also include information about the support available from the CCG and the Councils (District and County), including new funding that is available to kick-start your community health and wellbeing project. Come along to one or more workshops to find out more. To book your place(s), please follow the links above.

If you would like more information about the workshops, please contact Nicole Rickard, Head of Communities, Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils on 01502 523231.
